A dental implant is held in place by a post screwed into the jawbone. A bridge is supported by metal posts placed close to the missing tooth. This system may be preferable as it:

  • Allows the dentist to use areas of stronger bone
  • Spreads the strain on the new tooth and surrounding teeth
  • Is stronger than a single dental implant

In cases where one or more teeth are missing in a row or the dentist finds that the gum tissue or bone density below the missing tooth is not suitable for a dental implant, an implant supported bridge is often the best solution to the problem.
