Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is used to replace several missing teeth.

We understand how important it is for you to maintain the appearance of your smile. Your teeth must also be functional, allowing you to eat and speak easily. A complete smile – without gaps – keeps your facial muscles intact, which prevents sagging that makes you look older. The bridge also keeps your remaining teeth in place, so they don’t shift to fill the gap – and become crooked.

People who lack sufficient bone mass may have been discouraged from dental implants – if this is your case, a dental bridge may be the right solution for you.

What is a bridge?

The traditional dental bridge uses a false tooth or teeth; these are held by dental crowns cemented to neighboring teeth. This is the most popular type of dental bridge.

A bridge can be supported by dental implants. This involves one or more crowns are held in place by dental implants on each side. Dental implants are surgically inserted replacement teeth that look just like natural teeth.

What is involved in getting a bridge?

At the first visit, your dentist prepares the teeth and covers them with temporary crowns. The dentist may also make impressions of the teeth. In the following visits, you will get fitted with the bridge fixture attached to your teeth.

If you are getting dental implants to support your bridge, that will involve more steps to install the tooth root and affix the crown.

Recovery is very minimal with a dental bridge, as well as with dental implants. Although crowns and bridges can last a lifetime, these can sometimes become loose or fall out. You must take proper care of your bridge, as with your natural teeth.

Is it time for a dental bridge?

If you have missing teeth, it’s very important to replace them. Talk to your dentist about your situation, and discuss which treatment is best for you – a dental bridge or dental implants. We have financing options to ensure you get treatment that satisfies your needs.
